Emily Dickinson's Gardens through the Seasons

Monday, April. 29, 2024    |     6:00 p.m.

As National Poetry Month wraps up, the Wyomissing Public Library will offer a free program to the public featuring one of the greatest American poets, Emily Dickinson. The program will be held on Monday, April 29th at 6 PM at the library, 9 Reading Boulevard in Wyomissing.

Margaret Mary Yevics, a Penn State Master Gardener, will present “Emily Dickinson’s Gardens” as the poet herself, reading her poems and showing the gardens the poet tended from a young age. Ms. Yevics became interested in Dickinson as a gardener after reading an article about the restoration of her familial gardens in Amherst, MA where the poet lived most of her life. She ”fell in love” with the poetry of Emily Dickinson as a young child, a love that has continued throughout her career as a civil engineer for Getty Oil and McDonald’s Corporation among others, and into retirement. She volunteers for the Garden Hotline, Reading Arboretum and Hopewell Furnace in her capacity as a Master Gardener.
