The 1927 Reading Keys Baseball Team

On Monday, October 1 - the first day of the month in which baseball's playoffs begin - Brian C. Engelhardt will present a program about the Reading Keys, a team that had a 31-game losing streak during the 1927 baseball season. Engelhardt is a lifelong Phillies fan intimately acquainted with disappointment on the baseball diamond and the gallows humor that goes with it. He is the author of Reading’s Big League Exhibition Games, and a regular contributor to the Berks County Historical Review.

Local Author Visit: Nancy Hughes

Nancy Hughes, a Spring Township resident and a member of Mystery Writers of America, has had three books published by Black Opal Books, starting with The Dying Hour in 2016, and is under contract for two more. Her other books, both published in 2017, are A Matter of Trust and Redeeming Trust. Vanished: A Trust Mystery, is scheduled to be released in October. She is also a member of Sisters in Crime, an international organization whose mission is to promote the advancement, recognition and professional development of women crime writers.
