The Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

In 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama two Black women changed the course of history on two separate occasions when they refused to give up their seats to white passengers on a public bus.

Wynton Butler, President of the Reading Branch of the NAACP, will talk about these two women and their actions, and other events that led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which lasted for one year and resulted in major civil rights legislation. He will discuss Dr. Martin Luther King's leadership and involvement in the Boycott, and its nation-wide significance.
