Holocaust Remembrance Day

On Tuesday, January 27th, the library will commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day, with a presentation by Dr. Charles Barbera at 6 PM. In July, 2025, Dr. Barbera spent a week at the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust in Oswiecim, Poland. There, along with 24 other participants from 14 countries, he learned Pre-war Krakow, The Nazi Occupation, the Podgorze Ghetto, Plaszow, Auschwitz I, Auschwitz II-Birkenau, and the life and death of prisoners of the Nazi party. The week involved traveling to sites around Poland, examining artifacts, and reviewing literature and illustration from the prisoners themselves. The faculty were international experts in Auschwitz and the Holocaust. He will talk about this program and the important lessons that he learned.
January 27, 2026 is the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
